Modeled after programs at the Sivananda Ashram, we’ll practice and study with Arjuna, a masterful yogi who’s been teaching for over 30 years. We will enjoy nourishing vegetarian meals prepared by our on-site chef and soak up the spiritual vibrations from Sedona’s Red Rock Mountains.

Course Description: From the Yoga Mat to Spiritual Quest

A line in the The Bhagavad Gita reads, “When the mind finds rest and calmness by the practice of yoga, we can find joy and intuit the spirit.”

During this eight day yoga retreat and spiritual quest, we will explore the true meaning of yoga. While many of us are familiar with yoga as a physical practice, its essence is spiritual in nature and it offers a complete philosophy for approaching and living life.

Arjuna, our guide for the week, is a disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda and directs guest programs at the Sivananda Yoga Retreat in the Bahamas. He will lead this journey to support us in deepening our relationship with yoga as a way of life. Each day will be filled with asana yoga practice, meditation, spiritual devotion, teaching and story-telling, as well as time for sharing and reflection. Those who have studied with Arjuna know him to be dynamic, warm, inspiring and full of life.

Our On-Site Chef

The program will be accentuated by our on-site chef, the talented Lesley Majzlin. Lesley serves as one of the lead chefs at the Sivananda Yoga Center in New York and their Yoga Ranch in upstate New York. With a karma yoga journey that began 20 years ago in the kitchen at the Integral Yoga Institute, and a background in theatre and holistic massage, Lesley brings a creative and unique perspective on food.

Her colorful, positive, mindful approach to nourishment encourages a sense of empowerment and inspiration. It also serves as a vessel for deepening meditation practices. In Lesley's own journey, the healing nature of her method helped her recover from both an eating disorder in youth and from partial paralysis and inflammation after a severe spinal injury later in life.



How do I get to and from the retreat?

The retreat is located about 2 hours from the Phoenix airport. We'll provide arrival details for everyone attending so that rental cars and trips can be shared. This will reduce costs and help keep the number of cars at the house to a minimum.

Can I book a private room, or a room with a friend?

We will be staying in a house with shared rooms and bathrooms. Unfortunately, there are no single rooms available. You can see the full description here: Chocolate Treehouse Airbnb.

Please note, depending on the attendees, some rooms may be co-ed. Let us know when you register if you have special requests regarding the gender make-up of your roommates. We will try to accommodate those.

What should I bring?

Yoga clothes and some warmer cover ups. Temperatures during this time of year in Sedona are typically highs from 68-76 F and lows from 48-52 F.

Hiking and walking shoes for excursions and walking meditation.

Any cover ups you’ll want for comfort during meditation and yoga.

A yoga mat.

Water bottles and hats or sunglasses for sun exposure on the hikes.

Vegetarian snacks. We will provide food but if you have special items you want to bring, we ask that you please adhere to keeping them vegetarian.

Can you accommodate my food and dietary restrictions?

All meals will be vegetarian and we will be able to accommodate most dietary restrictions with advance notice. Please let us know when you book your spot if you have special requests.

Is there any flexibility around arrival and departure times?

We’ll kick-off at 6 PM on April 11th with a group dinner and the program will officially begin at 8 PM. If you cannot make dinner, please let us know. We urge you to arrive by 8 PM on Saturday so that you can gain important information on the week ahead and to meet the group.

You may arrive as early as 2 PM on the 11th and get settled into the house. There will be an optional yoga class at 4 PM on the 11th for those who arrive early.

Do I have to participate in all the activities?

To get the full experience of the retreat and to create a welcoming community we expect everyone to participate in all activities. We understand you may have to miss one or two, but please let us know in advance.

What is the cancellation policy?

This is a very small retreat with only 13 spots, so we truly hope that anyone who joins is very committed as it will prevent another person from participating.

However, we know that changes in circumstances and emergencies happen, so we have structured the cancellation policy in a way that will allow another person to claim your spot, should you be unable to attend.

Refund by notice period:

2 months in advance - 100%*

6 weeks in advance - 75%

4 weeks in advance - 50%

2 weeks in advance - 25%

Less than 2 weeks - no refund
